“The eyes have it”–do yours? Put a little intrigue (aka Danger) in those eyes. Start with a neutral bone or velvety peach eye shadow to cover any discoloration on the lid. (If your lids are dark, choose something peach, if you are fair, try a bone or champagne color.) A light shimmery shade around the tear duct is a subtle way to brighten the eye as well. I also like to dust a sandy brown shadow around the lashes and in and above the crease to give the eyes some depth.
Eyeliner: I love a blackish plum shade– but again, any shade that doesn’t have too much of a red undertone will work. If you opt for brown, choose a greenish brown,(you won’t have to worry about it making your eyes look tired) instead of a coppery or warm brown. Some days you may need to line top and bottom, other days, just the top will do. Choosing to line the bottom only is not recommended–scary.
Now add a black, navy or plum curling and thickening mascara, (I love Yves Saint Laurent–Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara). A deep navy is actually quite chic and it will brighten your eyes. It should be subtle, not a flashback to the 80’s.
A matte coral or pink blush is next. The perfect blush should actually terrify you a little bit when you are confronted with its brightness in the compact . You should look flushed and healthy , not crazy. Pick a formula that goes on sheer. (I love Bobbi Brown powder blushes and well as Kevyn Aucoin cream blushes). I also prefer to put it on with a fluffy powder brush rather than a traditional 20 blush brush. Please do not blush your nose, you will just look weird or cold.
