Dear Katie—(the familiarity seems odd, but since I have known you for almost 20 years, it may be appropriate),
We respect and admire the awareness you bring to colorectal cancer—Thank you! Grandparents on both sides of my family had colon cancer, and it took my paternal grandmothers life the year I was born. Many of us suffered with you as you lost your husband to this sneaky, insidious disease in 1998—our hearts broke for you.
The sad fact remains that only a small percentage of people who need a colonoscopy procedure are actually getting them. We, at AgingButDangerous.com, would like to do our part to help change that. In March of 2011 we want to set a Guinness Book of World Records by hosting the largest colonoscopy party in the world in Minneapolis. Crazy? YES—and that is what we like about it.
This wonderful and wacky event should get tons of national buzz and give us a format to educate and inspire women (and men), that this procedure is not as bad as it sounds, and it doesn’t have to scare the crap out of you, (it does need to come out however).
WE NEED YOU! To get the kind of national attention required to dispel the stigma attached to colonoscopies we need your involvement. Creating a grass roots push for this procedure needs to come from the bottom up—YOU are the person to help us inspire that movement. How do we get you to Minnesota next March?
We, at Aging But Dangerous, believe women 50 and over are just catching their full, beautiful and influential stride. Our wonderful community of ABD women has the power to make positive changes in the world— increasing the participation stats for colonoscopies is a heart felt focus.
Please let us know when you are available in March of 2011 and if you are game for this life saving event.
Our best,
Jean and Suzanne
