During our recent Casting Call event, our dear friends at the Smitten Kitten contributed a very tasteful little pouch to our gift bags. The pouch contained a condom which was also very tasteful, (chocolate, strawberry, etc.)  One of our participants was terribly offended by this gift.  We, at AgingButDangerous, were thrilled that the Smitten Kitten was so caring.  Although still a little squeamish with our own sexuality, we have written about our concerns;  almost 20% of all people with HIV/AIDS are 50 or over, and that stat  increases rampantly on a yearly basis.   That is terrifying!  Although we never wish to offend, we do wish to inform.  Further inquiry into the reaction of others to this gift bag “treasure” revealed a VERY grateful participant who said, that for her, the timing was perfect.  She thought the chocolate added a nice touch.  Should we say, “different strokes for different folks.”?
